The Gulf of Khambhat Development Project (Kalpasar), Gujarat

    public-log

The Gulf of Khambhat Development Project (Kalpasar), Gujarat is an ambitious water resources and infrastructure initiative that aims to construct a 30 km dam across the Gulf of Khambhat to create the world’s largest freshwater coastal reservoir, storing about 10 billion cubic meters of water—approximately 25% of Gujarat’s annual rainwater flow. The project will provide irrigation, drinking water, and industrial supply, and includes a 10-lane road link over the dam to reduce travel distance between Saurashtra and South Gujarat. It also plans for tidal power generation, fisheries development, and improved regional connectivity.
