Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the central banking institution, which controls the issuance and supply of the Indian rupee and manages the country's main payment systems. It also works to promote economic development and ensure financial stability. The RBI formulates and implements monetary policy, regulates and supervises financial institutions, manages foreign exchange, and acts as a banker to the government and commercial banks.
