The Department of Panchayat and Rural Development is responsible for implementing rural development programs and strengthening the three-tier Panchayati Raj system in the state. It oversees schemes like MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), State Rural Livelihood Mission, and PMGSY. The department promotes decentralized governance, social justice, and economic development through Gram Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats, and Zila Panchayats. It also manages capacity-building programs for elected representatives and officials.
