National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEM), Thailand

The National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEM) is Thailand’s central agency for regulating and strengthening the country’s emergency medical services (EMS). It oversees the development of EMS systems, including ambulance services, emergency call centers (notably the 1669 hotline), and aeromedical operations. NIEM also sets national EMS standards, provides training, and coordinates with local and international partners to improve emergency response capabilities. Its mission is to ensure equitable, timely, and high-quality emergency care for all citizens, aligning with national health strategies and global health goals.
