MRPL is a leading oil refining company in India that has a refining capacity of 15 million metric tonnes per annum and is known for its advanced hydrocrackers and polypropylene production units. It produces a wide range of petroleum products including diesel, petrol, LPG, aviation fuel, and petrochemicals. Initially a joint venture between HPCL and the AV Birla Group, MRPL became a public sector undertaking after ONGC acquired majority shares in 2003. It was granted Miniratna status in 2007.
