Instituto Oceanográfico de Moçambique (Oceanographic Institute of Mozambique, InOM) is an institution dedicated to oceanographic research and the development of marine science and technology in Mozambique. It focuses on enhancing the understanding of marine environments, supporting sustainable use of marine resources, and contributing to the country's socio-economic development through scientific research and innovation. The institute operates autonomously, with a strong emphasis on scientific, administrative, and financial independence. In 2022, Mozambique dissolved INAHINA (National Institute for Hydrography and Navigation) and created InOM, where the Hydrographic Authority is now located. This authority was transferred from the Ministry of Transport and Communications to the Ministry of the Sea, Inland Waters, and Fisheries.
