Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (Geological and Mining Institute of Spain) is a Public Research Organization. It provides expert knowledge on all aspects of geoscience, advising the Spanish Government and its Autonomous Community Governments on sustainable development and resource management. It was renamed the Geological Institute of Spain, and in 1927 it was reorganized, modernized the laboratories, settled in its current headquarters, and acquired the name of the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain.
