The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, also known as GEOSA, is responsible for managing work in the fields of surveying, map production, geographic information, and marine survey. Its services include geodetic surveys, which focus on various branches of earth sciences related to geological structures and other topics of interest. It also conducts topographic surveys, which involve studying different areas of the Kingdom’s land surface and producing topographic maps that highlight terrain, water, and man-made specific features. In addition, the agency carries out hydrographic surveys to aid mariners in meeting their requirements, along with nautical charting, and it also manages the National Tide Gauge Network. The agency was originally established as the Central Surveying Administration and later transformed into the General Authority for Surveying in 2001. It was restructured and renamed to its current form in 2006 and finally in 2020.
