Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was created to consolidate various food-related laws and ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. FSSAI sets science-based standards for food products and regulates their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import. It also oversees food safety enforcement through State Food Safety Authorities. FSSAI plays a vital role in public health protection, consumer awareness, and capacity building in the food sector. It provides technical support to the government and promotes transparency and accountability in food safety management.
