The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) is the key government body overseeing urban local governance across Karnataka, excluding Bengaluru’s BBMP. It supervises the functioning of City Corporations, City Municipal Councils, Town Municipal Councils, and Town Panchayats. It ensures effective coordination between municipalities and district administrations, monitors tax collection, enforces transparency in municipal expenditures, and implements urban development schemes like UIDSSMT and Nirmala Nagara. DMA also supports infrastructure planning, solid waste management, and civic amenities.
