Department of Environment and Climate Change, Tamil Nadu creates environmental awareness in schools and colleges through NGOs, eco-clubs, and national Green Corp (NGC), eco-restoration activities, climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives, coastal zone management and preparation of environmental management plans for towns. It is entrusted with the coordination of major projects like pollution abatement in the Cauvery, Vaigai, and Thamiraparani rivers and in the waterways of Chennai city.
