    Chennai Port Authority (ChPA), formerly known as Chennai Port Trust, is one of India’s major ports and a key maritime hub on the Coromandel Coast. It is the third-oldest major port in India and plays a vital role in handling containerized cargo, automobiles, project cargo, liquid and dry bulk. The port has modern facilities including container terminals, cruise terminals, and bunkering services. In 2022, it was renamed under the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021. ChPA also owns Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) as a wholly owned subsidiary, enhancing its operational and financial strength.
