California State Lands Commission

The California State Lands Commission safeguards, improves, and oversees tide and submerged lands, as well as beds of natural navigable rivers, streams, lakes, bays, estuaries, and inlets, along with associated natural resources. This is achieved through the issuance of leases for use or development, provision of public access, resolution of boundaries between public and private lands, and implementation of regulatory programs aimed at protecting state waters from oil spills and the introduction of invasive species.
