Banco Credicoop is the largest cooperatively owned bank in Argentina. It was established through the merger of 44 Argentine credit unions. After the 2001 crisis in Argentina, it became the second private bank in the country behind Banco Macro Bansud and the first with completely national public capital. It is the most important cooperative bank in Latin America.
