    Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is responsible for advising the Governor and Legislature on the management of freshwater fish, wildlife, marine resources, state lands, state parks, and other natural resources. It was originally formed as the Department of Game and Fish in 1907, and several agencies and commissions responsible for the state’s wildlife and natural resources were consolidated under it in 1915. In 1919, it was renamed to its current title.
