V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), formerly known as Tuticorin Port Trust, is one of India’s 12 major ports. It is positioned strategically near the East-West international sea routes in the Gulf of Mannar, it is the second-largest port in Tamil Nadu and among the top container-handling ports in India. The port handles diverse cargo including coal, containers, and petroleum products, and is expanding under the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021 to adopt a landlord port model. It plays a vital role in southern India’s trade and logistics, with modern berths, container terminals, and mechanized facilities.
