The National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in India is a framework of technology, policies, and standards aimed at enabling the seamless sharing and access of geospatial data across various government, private, and public sectors. It was conceived to eliminate the duplication of data collection efforts, improve interoperability, and provide standardized spatial data for effective decision-making in governance, planning, and development. It provides a single-window access mechanism through the India GeoPortal to discover and access the spatial datasets and metadata of various participating agencies.
