    The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is a premier institute dedicated to the prevention and control of communicable diseases. Originating as the Central Malaria Bureau in 1909, it evolved through various stages to become NICD in 1963 and was renamed NCDC in 2009. NCDC serves as a national center of excellence for disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and public health research. It provides technical support to states and UTs, conducts training programs, and houses specialized divisions for epidemiology, microbiology, parasitic diseases, and more.
