National Bank of Belgium (NBB)

The National Bank of Belgium is Belgium’s central bank and a core member of the Eurosystem. It is responsible for monetary stability, financial supervision, macro‑prudential policy, banking oversight, and economic data analysis. In addition to issuing euro banknotes in Belgium, the NBB supervises financial institutions, manages foreign reserves, and supports the stability of payment and settlement systems. Uniquely among central banks, its capital is jointly owned by the Belgian state and private shareholders.
