Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR)

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) is the apex body of the Government of India responsible for implementing decentralized rural governance across the country. It steers policy, administration, and digitalization initiatives for Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) at village, block, and district levels, supporting local democracy, rural development, and empowerment. The ministry manages critical national schemes like eGramSwaraj, Swamitva, and capacity building for over 250,000 gram panchayats, focusing on transparency, participatory planning, and leveraging GIS and digital tools for sustainable, community-led progress.
