Jal Shakti Vibhag, Himachal Pradesh

Jal Shakti Vibhag is the principal water resources department of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, India, tasked with planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of drinking water supply, sewerage, irrigation, and flood protection infrastructure. Originally named the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Department, it became Jal Shakti Vibhag in 2020, serving over 10,000 water supply schemes, managing irrigation for more than 200,000 hectares, executing urban sewerage, and leading water conservation and resilience projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and external aid programs. The department is pivotal in advancing sustainable water management across the state’s mountainous terrain.
