Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise. It got its current name in 1974 through the government's acquisition and merger of foreign oil companies, including Esso and Caltex. HPCL is one of India's largest integrated oil refining and marketing companies, with a significant presence across the hydrocarbon value chain. The company operates major refineries in Mumbai and Visakhapatnam and has a vast marketing and distribution network spanning retail outlets, LPG bottling plants, and pipelines. HPCL provides a wide range of petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, lubricants, and LPG, and is also involved in renewable energy and petrochemicals.
