Geological Survey of India (GSI)

Geological Survey of India (GSI) is a scientific agency of India that is responsible for the creation and updation of national geological information and mineral resource assessment. These objectives are achieved through ground surveys, air-borne and marine surveys, mineral prospecting and investigation, multi-disciplinary geoscientific, geotechnical, geo-environmental, and natural hazards studies, glaciology, seismic studies, and fundamental research. GSI has evolved into a key repository of geoscientific information for mineral exploration, hazard assessment, and national planning. It uses modern technologies to create and update national geoscientific data, supporting diverse sectors from mining to infrastructure development.
