The Department of Revenue (DoR) under the Ministry of Finance is responsible for administering all direct and indirect taxes of the Union Government. Headed by the Revenue Secretary, the department oversees two major statutory boards: the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC). Both boards supervise taxation policy, administration, enforcement, and revenue collection.
