The Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) was an Australia–New Zealand collaborative research centre focused on advancing the science and application of spatial information, including positioning, mapping, remote sensing and spatial data infrastructure. Operating under the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program, CRCSI brought together universities, government agencies and private‑sector partners to address national‑scale challenges in areas such as infrastructure, environment, defence, agriculture and urban planning. Its research was strongly user‑led and industry‑driven, with an emphasis on open technologies, commercialisation, and postgraduate education. CRCSI conducted high‑impact collaborative research from 2003 to 2018, after which its activities transitioned into the successor organisation FrontierSI.
