The Commissionerate of Land Administration (CLA), Government of Tamil Nadu, is the apex authority responsible for administering all government land in the state. It oversees land assignment, land transfer, land alienation, land lease, eviction of encroachments, and exchange of government lands. CLA also monitors patta transfer, deals with land acquisition, protects government land under the Tamil Nadu Land Encroachment Act, 1905, and exercises appellate powers in settlement schemes. It is one of the five major commissionerates under the Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
