Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department, Bihar aims to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, wildlife, wetlands, ambience, biodiversityand to rehabilitate the natural ecological system. Initially, its name was Forest Department but in 1986, the responsibility of protection and development of the environment was entrusted to this department, so its name was changed to “Forest & Environment Department”. Finally, in the year 2002, its name was again changed to “Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department”.
