    Project Details

On the evening of November 26, 2021, Storm Arwen wreaked havoc on Scottish forests, substantially affecting a pivotal economic sector within the nation. Originating from the northeast, Arwen was identified as Scotland's most severe storm in five decades, resulting in the loss of an estimated 1 million cubic meters of timber. This volume represents roughly 20% of the nation's annual timber yield. In the aftermath of this calamity, Earth Blox, Capella Space, and the University of Edinburgh embarked on a collaborative endeavor to investigate the utility of satellite radar technology for delineating the scope of destruction inflicted by the storm.
