Pidpa, one of Belgium’s largest water companies, serves 1.2 million people in 65 municipalities in Antwerp Province and manages sewer systems in 34 municipalities. To maintain and enhance its vast water distribution and sewer network, Pidpa decided to migrate its GIS operations to Esri’s ArcGIS Utility Network. This transition aimed to eliminate paper-based workflows, streamline the IT landscape, and provide more extensive and accurate data analysis capabilities. A Proof of Concept (POC) was conducted from October 2019 to March 2020, in collaboration with Tensing and Esri Nederland, to evaluate new functionalities and assess the data migration effort. Approximately 80 use cases across database, desktop, and Web GIS environments were tested, confirming that the Utility Network could effectively replace existing custom solutions and enhance operational efficiency.
