Transforming Asset Management and Network Renewal: GIS-Driven Solutions for Powerco’s Electrical Distribution Network

Powerco, New Zealand's largest electricity distributor, faced the immense challenge of renewing its aging electrical network, primarily constructed during the 1950s. Given its extensive footprint and varying environmental conditions, traditional methods of identifying and prioritizing asset renewal proved inefficient. To address this, Powerco adopted a geospatially driven approach using advanced ArcGIS tools to integrate diverse data sources, visualize asset conditions, and guide strategic investments.
