Tracking Climate Changes with Leica BLK Imaging Laser Scanners

VIGEA – Virtual Geographic Agency conducted a long-term topographic survey of the Gorner Glacier, a prominent glacier in the Alpine region, beginning in 2017. This ongoing monitoring initiative aims to assess the glacier's health for climate change monitoring purposes. Leveraging Leica Geosystems' imaging laser scanner technology, the team critically explored the glacier's lifespan. The utilization of 3D laser scanning technology has introduced new opportunities for glacier monitoring in the Alpine region and beyond.
