Streamlining Survey Project Management: A GIS-Based Solution for Moore + Bruggink

Source: Esri
Moore + Bruggink, a full-service engineering and survey company in Grand Rapids, Michigan, modernized its survey department's project management using ArcGIS Experience Builder. This transformation addressed inefficiencies in accessing, managing, and organizing project data. The newly developed system centralized all survey project information into a digital repository accessible through intuitive web-based tools. The Survey Repository Viewer provided a map-based interface to locate and retrieve project-specific documents, while the Survey Repository Editor offered advanced filtering and editing capabilities for a database of over 2,100 projects.
Attributes such as project number, survey type, boundary details, and staking information were automatically populated using rules configured in ArcGIS Arcade, ensuring accuracy and consistency. The system also streamlined workflows for specialized projects like ALTA surveys, applying conditional logic to display relevant fields for data entry. Transitioning from ArcGIS Web AppBuilder to ArcGIS Experience Builder in May 2023 improved the user interface and data presentation, making the system more efficient and intuitive. These advancements significantly reduced administrative overhead, enhanced field crew efficiency, and provided a foundation for future enhancements, including remote access and smart forms for real-time data interaction.
