    Project Details

The German mapping authorities, coordinated under the AdV (Working Committee of the Surveying Authorities of the States of the Federal Republic of Germany), launched the Smart Mapping project to modernize national cartographic services and adapt to digitalisation. The project advances traditional AdV geospatial products by incorporating new processes, vector tiles technology, and cloud-based workflows. It integrates official survey data with open geospatial data to create flexible, user-friendly services such as basemap.de, automated map production pipelines, and mobile-compatible web maps. In addition, Smart Mapping enables on-demand high-resolution printed maps and supports reuse by adopting simple geospatial data models.
