    Project Details

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) developed the Shams Dubai Calculator to advance its renewable energy objectives, in alignment with the Dubai Supreme Energy Council's 2050 goal to generate 75% of electricity from renewable sources. The Shams Dubai Calculator enables residents and businesses to assess the solar energy potential of their rooftops using GIS-powered tools.

This web-based application combines 3D high-resolution imagery with detailed solar radiation data to estimate energy production and financial savings. Customers can interactively adjust parameters such as panel quantity and spacing for customized results, and the tool recommends optimal system sizes. In addition to providing an estimated environmental impact in terms of carbon footprint reduction, the application offers certified contractor lists for seamless installation processes. The initiative has significantly boosted solar panel adoption, with a 52% increase in connections within a year, positioning Dubai as a global leader in renewable energy.
