Satellite-Driven Farm Productivity Monitoring and Credit Validation for Smallholder Farmers in Nigeria

Agroxchange Technology, a Nigerian agritech company, partnered with EOS Data Analytics (EOSDA) to implement a white-labeled version of the EOSDA Crop Monitoring platform to modernize farming practices, improve crop yield, and streamline credit approval processes under the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrowers’ Program. This large-scale initiative aimed to assist more than 10 million smallholder farmers, who faced annual losses exceeding USD10 billion due to a lack of access to agronomic intelligence, poor infrastructure, and reliance on traditional farming methods.
Through this intervention, Agroxchange introduced precision agriculture tools that enabled satellite-based crop monitoring, field zoning, yield predictions, and soil moisture detection across 450,000 hectares, a massive leap from the previous 100,000 hectares. The cloud-hosted platform and mobile app enabled efficient scalability and ensured even remote farmers received real-time field advisories in local languages via SMS, reducing the digital divide and enhancing farm-level decision-making.
