    Project Details

Cambridge Ahead, a nonprofit organization, partnered with property consulting firm Carter Jonas to understand why more short-distance commuters in Cambridge weren’t choosing to cycle. Despite the known benefits of biking over driving, the city wasn’t seeing a significant shift from cars to bikes. To address this, they created a customized questionnaire using ArcGIS Survey123. This tool, integrated with an Esri web application, allowed commuters to provide feedback on the cycling infrastructure and their attitudes towards cycling. Users could also pinpoint problem areas directly on a map. Carter Jonas then utilized ArcGIS Pro to visualize the collected data, creating detailed maps that highlighted key issues and potential areas for improvement. This initiative provided transport planners with actionable insights to design better cycling routes and infrastructure, making biking a more attractive option for commuters.
