    Project Details

This project focuses on the remote monitoring of mining sites located 500km away from the main office to ensure that mining activities do not disturb areas of environmental and cultural significance. Traditional methods of sending specialists for on-site visits were found to be too expensive and inefficient. Instead, a solution was implemented using high-resolution satellite imagery from Pléiades and Pléiades Neo satellites to produce a mosaic of the site every two weeks. This imagery allows for the detailed monitoring of construction progress, supervision of road and infrastructure development, and assessment of environmental impacts without the need for frequent on-site visits. The geospatial accuracy of the satellite data enables precise measurements and real-time decision-making, reducing fieldwork from one month to just two weeks. Additionally, the use of infrared spectral bands helps environmental scientists monitor biomass, soil erosion, and plant health, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
