Precision Mapping Through Aerial LiDAR: Parc Astérix Impact Study

Source: YellowScan
Drone Expertise Centre undertook a high-precision topographic survey of Parc Astérix an amusement park and its surroundings in France. The mission aimed to generate accurate and detailed contour maps with 25cm intervals to support an environmental impact study for a future development project.
Given the park's proximity to a Natura 2000 protected forest zone and restrictions on pedestrian access, aerial LiDAR was the only viable solution. Using the YellowScan Mapper mounted on a DJI M300 RTK, the survey covered 160 hectares and involved eight flights over two days. The Mapper’s LiDAR system collected 60 GB of high-density data with exceptional resolution, allowing precise contour mapping without disrupting the environment. Ground Control Points (GCPs) were utilized for accuracy verification, ensuring the final deliverables met rigorous standards.
