    Project Details

The Departmental Directorate of Territories in the Pyrenees initiated a groundbreaking project to ensure the safety and accuracy of avalanche corridor monitoring across four challenging zones. Spanning a total of 430 hectares (1,060 acres), this project aimed to model avalanche-prone areas using state-of-the-art LiDAR technology. The primary goal was to generate high-quality, precise point clouds that captured the rugged terrain's intricate details, including steep slopes, dense vegetation, and substantial elevation differences of up to 1,000 meters (3,300 feet). Instadrone was commissioned to undertake the mission, using their YellowScan Explorer LiDAR system integrated with a DJI M300 RTK drone. The resulting data would inform avalanche mitigation strategies and updates for these critical areas.
