    Project Details

The Water Supplies Department (WSD) of Hong Kong has implemented an innovative solution to enhance water quality management by introducing an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) system. Partnering with OceanAlpha Group Ltd., the project employs geospatial technologies and autonomous navigation to monitor and sample water quality in impounding reservoirs, notably the Plover Cove Reservoir. Equipped with hi-tech sensors and obstacle avoidance systems, the USVs transmit real-time data to a central base station, enabling prompt decision-making by WSD staff. Emphasizing sustainability, the project utilizes renewable energy sources like solar panels to power the USVs. This initiative enhances emergency responsiveness, optimizes resource allocation, and safeguards drinking water safety in Hong Kong's water treatment works.
