    Project Details

Alisson Rocha da Silva and his team at the Federal Institute of Rondônia are working to optimize livestock feed production by accurately calculating biomass levels in local fields. Situated in the agricultural hub of São Miguel do Guaporé, their research aims to address the underutilization of land and low productivity caused by traditional livestock farming practices. Alisson’s team uses the EOSDA Crop Monitoring platform to streamline biomass calculations, assess soil moisture, and monitor temperature data. This satellite-based monitoring enables precise biomass estimates, helping determine the animal stocking rate for sustainable pasture use. With this data, Alisson’s team can make informed decisions about crop and grazing management, ensuring enough biomass is produced to meet livestock feed demands and optimizing the use of available land.
