    Project Details

Alisson Rocha da Silva and his team at the Federal Institute of Rondônia successfully optimized livestock feed production by accurately calculating biomass levels in local fields. Based in the agricultural hub of São Miguel do Guaporé, their research addressed land underutilization and low productivity caused by traditional livestock farming practices. The team employed the EOSDA Crop Monitoring platform to streamline biomass calculations, assess soil moisture, and monitor temperature data. This satellite-based monitoring enabled precise biomass estimates, allowing the team to determine appropriate animal stocking rates for sustainable pasture use. With these insights, they made informed decisions on crop and grazing management, ensuring sufficient biomass production to meet livestock feed demands and significantly improving land utilization.
