    Project Details

ALCIS partnered with Maxar Technologies to combat narcotics operations in Afghanistan. Their collaboration involved comprehensive geospatial analysis, integrating satellite imagery examination with fieldwork to assess the efficacy of military strategies, particularly airstrikes, targeting opium trade networks. Through sophisticated satellite imagery analysis and on-the-ground surveys, the project aimed to furnish actionable insights into the impact of military interventions on both the opium trade and local communities. Furthermore, the study investigated the potential disruption caused by farmers adopting solar panels in the traditional opium cultivation landscape. This interdisciplinary approach not only provided valuable intelligence for counter-narcotics efforts but also underscored the transformative role of geospatial technologies in addressing complex socio-economic challenges in conflict-affected regions.
