    Project Details

Led by the Centre for Geographical Analysis at Stellenbosch University, the project utilized high-resolution satellite imagery and advanced geographic analysis to address soil salinity issues in South Africa's Northern and Western Cape regions. By integrating remote sensing techniques, GIS, and spatial statistics, the initiative aimed to develop cost-effective methodologies for precision agriculture, infrastructure management, and environmental conservation. Serving as a beacon of hope for sustainable land use planning and resource optimization, the project sought to tackle escalating salinity challenges worldwide. In collaboration with technology providers such as Maxar and GEO Data Design, it endeavored to optimize land use planning and promote sustainable resource management globally in response to the mounting salinity crisis.
