In 2021, the National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration (ANCPI), Romania launched a transformative initiative to reduce the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and drive long-term resilience. By eliminating paper-based processes, ANCPI reduced direct contact between employees and stakeholders while ensuring uninterrupted service delivery. Central to this transformation is the National Projects Application, a digital platform designed to minimise duplication of geospatial data collection in publicly funded projects. Integrated into the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) portal, the application provides two modules: (i) a citizen-facing module that allows the public to consult areas where projects are being developed, and (ii) an authority-facing module that enables data producers to upload or update geospatial information, such as project boundaries, in shape file format aligned to TopRo5. Already operational with data from the LAKI III project (“Geographical Information for Environment, Climate Change and EU Integration”), the platform strengthens efficiency, transparency, and collaboration in Romania’s geospatial ecosystem.
