The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YKD), encompassing over 50 indigenous communities and a rich biodiversity within the Yukon National Wildlife Refuge, faces critical environmental challenges due to permafrost melting and frequent wildfires. These phenomena not only alter the landscape's physical characteristics but also have significant global environmental implications. This project aims to use SAR technology to observe the delta's environmental dynamics, assess impacts on wildlife, the carbon cycle, and indigenous communities, and support effective management strategies to address these pressing environmental concerns.
