modernization-of-the-liguria-region-gnss-station-network-with-multiconstellation-capability
Source: Stonex
In a strategic move to enhance geospatial infrastructure, Stonex updated the GNSS station network of the Liguria Region, modernizing its technology to improve accuracy and reliability in positioning services. This modernization effort replaced aging hardware with state-of-the-art equipment, including Stonex SC2200 GNSS receivers and SA1500 Choke Ring Antennas. The network was also upgraded with the latest Geo++ GNSMART software to support multi-constellation capabilities, integrating GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou constellations on all frequencies.
This upgrade significantly enhances network performance, particularly in challenging environments with obstructed visibility. The network now supports the latest RTCM3 and RINEX3 formats, ensuring full compatibility with legacy formats while adapting to modern data standards. Located across strategic sites in Cairo Montenotte, Genoa, Bayard, Loano, Chiavari, Drinkable, and Ventimiglia, the GNSS stations are connected to a central control hub, ensuring seamless operation and improved accuracy. The update, completed in collaboration with GTER of Genoa, included internet connectivity upgrades to ensure reliable data transmission. After rigorous testing and validation, the updated network went live on August 4, 2021.
