In collaboration, GMV and Maxar offer wine producers a suite of tools and insights to elevate vineyard performance and propel success in the wine industry. Vineyard management, with its intricate interplay of soil conditions, sun exposure, and topography—collectively referred to as terroir—presents multifaceted challenges. Precision viticulture emerges as a solution to surmount these complexities, employing technologies such as satellite imagery, GPS, and GIS to precisely gauge local variations influencing grape yield and quality.
Leveraging high-resolution satellite imagery, notably the WorldView-2 8-band imagery, GMV, in alliance with Maxar, monitors vineyard conditions and informs decision-making processes. By pinpointing homogeneous sections within vineyards and scrutinizing biophysical and biochemical characteristics, vineyard operators can fine-tune management practices like fertilization, irrigation, and harvest timing. The exceptional spatial resolution of sensors like WorldView-2 enables the discernment of minute variables within vineyards, facilitating nuanced and data-driven decisions to optimize yield, quality, and profitability.
