    Project Details

    Arup collaborated with Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) to launch a renewable energy microgrid, marking a significant milestone in advancing sustainable and resilient public transportation solutions, especially in remote island communities. The project aimed to decarbonize transit, enhance resilience, and achieve cost efficiency through renewable energy integration, resilient microgrid design, and innovative vehicle charging infrastructure. With benefits including environmental impact reduction, energy independence, cost savings, and community advancement, the project exemplified industry leadership in sustainable transit solutions. Moving forward, Arup remained committed to ongoing collaboration with VTA and stakeholders to monitor system performance, expand infrastructure, and explore further opportunities for enhancing sustainability and resilience in public transportation.
