    Project Details

The ‘Maps for Good Land Governance’ project, implemented in cooperation with the Norwegian Mapping Authority, modernized Ukraine’s geospatial infrastructure by delivering updated 1:50,000 scale digital topographic maps and establishing a new national topographic database. This initiative, led by the StateGeoCadastre in collaboration with national enterprises such as the Research Institute of Geodesy and Cartography, the Ukrainian State Aerogeodesic Enterprise, and the Central Department of Military Topography and Navigation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, aimed to create a single, authoritative cartographic foundation. A Quality Control Commission was formed to validate map sheets, with 1,288 nomenclature sheets covering 436,135 km² accepted into the system. To ensure accuracy and transparency, an automated ‘Validate’ tool was developed, alongside a geoportal for project monitoring, enabling efficient quality checks and public accessibility. The resulting unified dataset now underpins land governance, infrastructure planning, defence readiness, and the national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI).
